If you don't want to join SCFD - why?

We could also solve the problem if SCFD and FFA communicated much more than they currently do. I’m obviously not privvy to what happens behind the scenes, but if SCFD training division members (not requirements) worked in collaberation with FFA or the medical board then SCFD candidacy wouldnt be as much of a learning curve than it currently is.

What kind of productive things could we being doing in quarters waiting for calls? Not having a go I’m genuinely interested

Interesting idea, I’ve got a friend working on something like that for another game

It’s possible, blaadam is working on something just like that for a group me and him are in.

Why does FFA need to go? Can you expand at all on “serious TLC and fixing”? Your points are a bit vague.

But is it really better for the Fire & EMS community to have more but less knowledgeable people who aren’t even taught the basics?

Honestly, I wish it could stay the same but it’s the only way for the EMS community of Firestone to stay alive. Trust me I like my current scope, I’m fairly comfortable with it, and I’m learning new procedures every day. However, I’d rather the community stay alive than the knowledgeability remains the same.

For people who don’t want to go real in depth they can just get EMT-B or EMT-I. I don’t think it’s fair to narrow paramedic scope because some people say it’s too hard.

Training on the road, inspecting businesses, visiting businesses and RP’ing with them, more PR events, driver training, trainings in county period, ride alongs, educating the public on how to properly RP with fire and/or EMS, the list is virtually endless.

FFA is a super unnecessary step into becoming a firefighter/EMT/paramedic. The last thing one of the least enticing agencies in the state needs is more barriers to make it more difficult to join. Everyone who’s wanted to join SCFD, has said they are not willing to go through FFA as it takes way too long. Not to mention, it’s administration has failed time and time again over the past few classes (no disrespect to the administrators of that agency). An earlier commenter said it took them nearly 3 months to complete FFA, because of internal issues.

I mean the official rational was based off of his n word usage in the SCFD discord if I remember correctly…

I don’t believe there was any bias as a result in that but…

Safety visits sound like a cool idea if there were physical alarms or something. PIO recently had a change of leadership and a new intake so more public events will happen soon, they just take time to plan. We do actually do a fair amount of ride alongs. Educating the public isn’t really something you can just go and do when you aren’t busy, it would work better as a planned event. Good thinking though.

FFA, like POST (in terms of sessions at least) doesn’t take that long if you read your packets in advance, try to attend or arrange tiers and engage with your instructors. Waiting for graduation is the longest part really. If FFA was scrapped it would just be replaced by SCFA, so not really removing the barrier. I honestly don’t think replacing FFA with SCFA would change much. I’ve observed in the current FFA class that there aren’t lots of training officers, but they do try to host, just they don’t get much attendance. People will talk about time zones being an issue but they’ve made it clear you can DM training officers to arrange a tier. I think part of it is recruits not doing their bit, then telling everyone that certification takes too long.

there is no proof of this because it didn’t happen, the favoritism he mentions is people he disliked getting promoted, getting called out for his bad conduct and the like. there was favoritism in the past, not so much now

scfd is boring, ems and fire rp is repetitive and boring. its the same rps over and over again. it was fun for the first month and then i lost interest
