Amendment to make Reckless Driving Harsher


PREAMBLE: The county is growing constantly at a large rate. As the county grows, more people are coming to cause crimes. Cars are one of the biggest weapons in Firestone and reckless driving must be made harsher to prevent the endangerment of the public.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE STATE OF FIRESTONE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1:

( a ). Section “E” of “A Bill to Establish Road Laws (Re-vised)” shall be declared null and void.

( b ).A Bill to Amend “A Bill to Establish Road Laws (Re-vised)”” shall be declared null and void.

( c ). The title of the legislation stated in “SECTION 1: ( a ).” and “SECTION 1: ( b ).” shall be inserted with a link to define the legislation it is mentioning.

( d ). The charge of “Reckless Driving” shall be replaced and defined in “SECTION 2” of this legislation.

SECTION 2:

( a ). “Reckless Driving” shall be deemed illegal in the State of Firestone.

( b ). Any person who commits the act of driving a motor vehicle carelessly and heedlessly while disregarding the safety of others shall be guilty of “Reckless Driving”.

( c ). Any person who commits the act of driving a motor vehicle: without using caution or at a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger another person or damage another’s property shall be guilty of “Reckless Driving”.

( d ). “Reckless Driving” shall be deemed a misdemeanor in the State of Firestone.

( e ). Law enforcement officers have the option of a verbal warning, written warning, citation, or arrest at their discretion on the charge stated in this section.

( 1 ). A citation for the charge “Reckless Driving” shall be a minimum fine of $250, but the fine must not exceed $500 at law enforcement officers discretion.

( 2 ). An arrest in game for the charge “Reckless Driving” shall be a minimum time of 60 seconds, but the time must not exceed 250 seconds at law enforcement officers discretion.

( f ). Upon conviction in a court of law on the charge of “Reckless Driving”, the presiding judge shall set a time deemed reasonable by them, but the time may not exceed 30 minutes.

SECTION 3:

( a ). The following departments shall enforce this legislation: Firestone State Patrol, Stapleton County Sheriff’s Office, Firestone Department of Corrections, Firestone National Guard, Firestone Department of Justice,Firestone Courts, and Firestone Department of Homeland Security.

( b ). The departments stated in “SECTION 3: ( a ).” shall be inserted with links to define the department it is mentioning.

( c ). This legislation shall go into effect immediately upon passage.
