this is a bad idea considering how firestone is mob rule above all. problematic people that WOULD have been recalled (kolibob, etc) have always been handled via impeachment or expulsion. there isnât really a need for this other than âmayflower does it so it must be goodâ
It can be used to get rid of senators or house of representatives when quorum isnât reached, its also a way for citizens to get rid of law makers that are ineffective within reason. I see your mob rule claim and have offered a way to prevent abuse (A hearing presided by the CCJ). This isnât supposed to be the main way to get rid of someone (expulsion, impeachment) but drafting and passing this legislation offers a second way for citizens to democratically get rid of someone who multiple hundreds of people dislike & agree should not be in office.
if a senator or rep isnât up to par, itâs fairly simple to expel them. under this, people could just overturn an election they didnât like, like our most recent one. everyone that voted for nicole or ash could just⌠recall ninwin.
You have brought up a fair point, but I forgot to mention there will be a requirement on how much time the elected official must serve in office before any efforts can be introduced. A Governor election would not be able to be overturned just for the sole reason of winning because hundreds of signatures would have to be reached, and then a hearing presided by the CCJ would have to happen before the CCJ gives the okay on opening a recall vote (essentially by seeing if there is merit). I donât think an argument of âmy candidate did not winâ is going to stand in the hearing.
when is the judiciary gonna overturn this election, all 700 votes were stolen from me and mango!! we demand action!!
anyways, in seriousness,
as stated, firestone is mob rule, its stupidly easy to become popular and get a base of people who will support you no matter what you do where all you would have to say is âi dont like this person, recall them.â and those who do/have cause(d) problems have been removed through impeachments or expulsions, remember, you have the right to petition your government officials for the removal of other government officials!!!
Uhhhh if you wanna remove a governor thatâs why impeachment exists. For one, the court should never play a part in elections to prevent biasâs. There is literally a process to remove elected officials, multiple of them. Recall bad idea really bad idea, itâs an election literally any close election could be brought to recall because of the amount of votes that come in. There was record breaking number of votes for every candidate, there shouldnât be a recall, this isnât expired food itâs elected positions.
If citizens wanna get rid of law makers, thereâs these things that people have nearly no hype for in comparison to the Governor. Itâs called elections, these law maker elections got less then half the number of votes as the Governor elections. Encourage people to vote, petition people to vote, explain why people are bad at a job, and donât re-elect them. Senators are coming up for election basically every 2 months.
ash supporters have standards and wouldnât recall anybody for no reason, as much as i disagree with ninwin he is doing his job as governor and there is no reason to recall him lol
With this, it isnât entirely bad, butânearly 3 times amount of the people vote as the numbers youâre listingâweâd have to adjust the numbers appropriately since that over 650+ people vote in a gubernational election at a time, and as well assure that the number of the opposing candidate isnât really just able to get an election recalled so easily.
There would have to be so much strict requirements to met, policy enforced, a set way to handle recalls, and so much more. This is a good idea but we arenât able to do it here.
For the numbers theyâd really have to be changed to this:
Recall Amendment: Thatâs good, 300-350 would be great.
Governor Recall: Easily 500-600, easily.
Signature Requirement for Lt Gov?: 450-500.
Dual Recall: This is merely about 650 if you want to recall BOTH.
And as well, these would be the recall options which in most generally would require an entire act for each one itself.
Simultaneous recall election:
Form 1: recall election functions as a normal gubernatorial election, number of challenges appear on ballot alongside the sitting governor, if the incumbent governor receives the most votes, they are free to continue their term as done beforeâbut if the challenger wins, then they become the new governor.
Form 2: Two-part election. Voters are asked whether if the sitting governor should be recalled, and select a candidate to choose if the governor is replaced. If majority is not reached for a recall, the second vote is void. If majority vote to recall, the person with the most votes on question 2 becomes governor.
Separate special election: Voters vote first on whether if they want to recall the current governor, if majority are in favor to be against recall, sitting governor stays in office. Otherwise the governor is recalled a separate special election is called to select a successor.
Retention recall election: Same as before, vote if they want to recall. In a retention recall election, a successful recall is treated in the same way as any other vacancy. Usually means the Lieutenant Governor succeeds to the office.
Recall Trial: Involves governor being tried before a circuit court, and has the right to request the trial be heard before a jury, and as well able to appeal the decision to the Firestone Supreme Court. If the court finds the complaints against the governor to be valid, they are removed from office and the constitutional successorâlieutenant governorâ takes office.
