Good evening,
Today I wish to pick at a pretty much well known issue recently, and that is regarding the House of Representatives as a whole. We currently have 10 representatives, including me and the Speaker of the House. We aren’t that low but apparently we at a low to the point where no one takes time for a session. We only need 5 for a quorum, but since Saturday, we have failed to host a session, when attempting to host one. Everyday since saturday I have attempted to get a session done, but we have failed time and time again to get a quorum, because, yes sometimes people are busy, but most of the time people put a thumbs down and don’t state a reason, but I see them doing other things. We have a bit of shit on our docket. I call on the Speaker for a special election, since it was brought up on Saturday to have one but was never executed or brought up since.
Second, during this term in Congress, the House has had 3 resignations and a few expulsions, mostly for inactivity, and I fear we may have another expulsions shortly for the same reason. If we keep getting random people in the House that aren’t willing to put time into it then we will continue to have the same issue, over and over, like a cycle.
I feel the House is not operating or heading in a good direction. There could be some people to put at fault in some cases but I will not name them. I will continue to try my best to get a session(s) done, and ensure the House is running smoothly.
I would love to hear your thoughts if you have any.
Thank you,
Joshernaut
Speaker Pro Tempore

Going to rephrase it. I agree with what Josh has said here. As a Congressman, and from what I can see here, these issues are not due to us mostly, they are due to the leadership.

While I agree to an extent, I also have to give some discredit to the current leadership. Instead of pre-planning times at least 1 day prior most of them are done on the same day and only 1 or 2 hours prior to the given time being voted on.
Nonetheless, some of our Representatives are steeping slowly in activity and shows that they really didn’t intend on putting in commitment from the start of their campaign.
I don’t think this should turn into another long and argumentative thread like the My Perspective of the Firestone Judiciary thread but should definitely be noticed by our current leadership and the Senate.
Signed,
SerZhukov

Imo, I think Congress should move away from game based voting and use something like discord or trello to host “sessions” on.

To be fair, neither heads of congress take time to really plan out sessions. You the day of, or day before mark up a few times and say vote. That isn’t the best way of scheduling sessions, back when I was PPT I hated scheduling sessions on people with less then 3 days notice at the minimum. The reality is if you want people to clear their schedules you have to plan ahead, or get their schedules so you can plan ahead yourself instead of having a vote every week, less then 24 hours before the session. I even actually complained a ton when presiding officers would give less then a few days notice. I went to nearly everything, but it still wasn’t acceptable.

And trello voting opens the door to many more problems. The reality is there is no real debate on trello voting, you’re not forced to pay attention, or even really do anything. You tab into a trello click a button and tab out, removing what I think is the most important part of legislating, discussion. I advocated against it heavily in congress when I was a senator and PPT and LT. Gov, and continue to now. This completely removes the public’s ability to get involved with Congress, which puts it into an even smaller box of followers for congress.

While this is also true to an extent, you’ve been in the House long enough to see that I (mostly) attempt to get you guys to vote on the day of a session and the time of a session when the voted on day comes.
