AN ACT
to Authorize a Referendum over the Department of Public Safety

PREAMBLE
To utilize the voice of the public, whose voice must take the priority for all matters, for which it is the objective and purpose of our legislature to do such – this being a matter with a request of governmental address, as shown by:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE STATE OF FIRESTONE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1. There shall be a referendum.

(a) For the purpose of deciding whether or not the Department of Public Safety should
be abolished.

(b) As such:
(i) All Citizens of Firestone shall be eligible to vote in this referendum.
(ii) The results of this referendum shall be considered legally binding.

(c) This referendum may contain only one (1) question, as set within Section 1A of this
legislation.

(d) This referendum must be held within thirty (30) days of this legislation being in
effect.

(e) The “legally binding” result shall be the answer with the highest amount of votes.
In the case where both possible answers receive an equal amount of votes, the
referendum shall be reheld. The legally binding result must be enforced through
other appropriate legislation.

SECTION 1A. There shall be one (1) question within this referendum, being:

  1. “Should the Department of Public Safety be abolished?” – with the two possible
    answers being:
    a. Yes
    b. No

SECTION 2.

(a) “legally binding” means the results of the referendum must be abided by, and as
such may only be reversed through another referendum.

(b) a “referendum” shall be defined as a general vote by the electorate on one or more
political question(s).

SECTION 3. The Governor of Firestone shall be responsible for the organization of this referendum, whereas the State Legislature shall be responsible for enforcing its result through appropriate legislation, as per Section 1(e) and 2(a) of this legislation.

SECTION 4. This legislation shall go into effect immediately.

SECTION 5. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.
