County-level departments

Here’s a random idea I got; what if departments like DOT, DPW, maybe DOBW etc. were made county-level departments? It gives the county government more of a purpose, and I think it’d be more realistic to have departments like these on the county level. This change would be done once V3 comes around.

Thoughts?

Good idea however,

They are state level departments, not county, furthermore wouldn’t you have to rename it to the Stapleton County Department of Transportation? I’m sorry I just don’t support this idea.

Yes that’s the point, they’d all have new names and acronyms like SCDOT, SCDPW etc

irl, most transportation agencies are only at a federal or state level. for example, caltrans, or Insert State Name Here Department of Transportation. County level also wouldn’t make all that much sense, as everything is already established for these departments, and they already under DPS

DPW would really make the only sense being moved to county level as most counties/cities are responsible for their own infrastructure and maintenance of it and rely on minimal resources from their state government other than funding in select instances. Anything else just really wouldn’t make since. But there are no issues as its currently set so theres no sense in moving anything around.

The only one I could possibly see would be DOBW. DOT doesn’t make sense.

The thing is that we only have one county so it wouldn’t really work.

what in the world are you talking about that since theres only one county it wouldnt work??

would you need more counties for a county dot, a county dpw? a county dobw? like what

Fed already said no to moving DPW under county, so even if congress tried to propose such move he’d delete the trello card thus declaring it “null and void”

To be honest, you get a lot more benefits being a state department compared to a county department.

No. I am talking about if would work better if we had more counties. Since we only have one county currently I think currently keeping it to FDPW or FDOT is better.

If you read the replies, this doesn’t work. The county level government does basically nothing important, I think it’s only there for realism. Same with city government. The state level basically does everything of importance the county and city are supposed to be doing. Seriously, what DO you people who are mayors, and county politicians, and council people, what do you do? I’ve seen a grand total of nothing so far, so please tell me so I know what I would be getting into when I get a seat on a city council.

No hate to you guys.

I know…that’s why I said what I said which is that it would not make sense to change the names of departments.

because everything the county has done / has talked about doing, the state has swooped in and made it state level legislation/order etc

the only things that remain untouched are SCFD and SCSO which even then has direct oversight by the state via DPS. if the county and cities were allowed to do things, you bet we would be doing them

Basically doing your jobs for you despite not needing too and even the thing county is ACTUALLY in charge of is overseen directly by the state.

“Stapleton County Department of Transportation”

Going back to what someone else said, they are all originally state and federal level departments. If it turned into a County level, then the County Administration would have oversight over all these departments. There would be no use for a state at that point. No use for a Governor, no use for a Cabinet since everything would be at the county level. It’d just ruin the fun and the organization.
