A petition to make lying to a officer illegal

isn’t false reporting a crime lying?

SOOOOO unconstituational. Ever heard of the Miranda v. Arizona case? Ever heard of the miranda rights? yeah bud. That case made up the miranda rights, and now you’re trying to alter it?

In one view, yes. However, they still have the right to remain silent. So you can’t say he’s failuring to comply if he isn’t speaking.

However, it also applies to lying. Officers cant know when someone is/isn’t lying. And if they do, theres this thing called Probable Cause and Reasonable Suspicion

Incorrect. Failure to comply is specifically defined.

You are indeed, a dumbass.

They have the right to remain silent, but if they do talk we can use it against them and if they lie we can have a law like this.

Also, lying to a officer might be obstruction of justice as well.

Incorrect.

Freedom of speech protects them from prosecution.

The officer can still do his job if someone lies, so that outlaws Obstruction of Justice.

The officer has a hard time to do his job if someone lies.

Lets say there is a MVA for example

Lets say person A caused it and person B did not, but you dont know this because you respond after it happens. You question both people and they both accuse the other person of doing the crime. Person A accuses B and B accuses A. This makes your job harder.

Instead of lying they can just not talk instead, better solution.

Not saying it being taken away…

Not being taken away but if they do decide to talk, lying should be punishable.

They are immune to prosecution because of their speech.

So that mean the law that constitutes perjury is unconstituional?

Thats why we should change the BOR

No, perjury isn’t omg. Why are you so damn dense.

Then why not make a law that says you swear under oath that whatver you are giving is nothing but the truth when you’re talking to police like you are in a court room?

Because that’s stupid…? Dude our cops can’t even handle fucking checkpoints you think I’m trusting them with a truth stick lol? This will do nothing but get abused and violate rights.
