“There’s no point of reinstating a city government if its for the sheer purpose of adding to one’s resumé” quote from a House of Rep which I find VERY true.

Just someone explain to me what do you expect the City Government to do?

We really don’t need them back tbh.

While a city government may seem like it is insignificant compared to state law or even county law, it allows for micromanagement of the county government. For example, take america. America is large and big, that is why we have Federal, State, County and Local governments. While Firestone is not big, it would provide the necessary structure of government if the state were to expand with more counties, if we had city governments.

city gov gave me my senate exp and helped me write bills,

if council drives it to usefulness and ensures activity among the gov, it can be useful

Again, what do you expect the City Government to do other then take up space in the Government? Last time the aborfield mayor made a Executive order saying “SCSO Deputies MUST patrol in aborfield due to a high crime rate” no offense but that clearly shows the mayor doesn’t even know his own jurisdiction in the city government…

I discharged the municipal governments for a reason… They are quite useless and really don’t have authority.

We can always attempt to elect good mayors that will remain active. However, a bill to ensure activity of city government officials would have to be separate from this bill.

I support this bill, because it has significant public support for it. Under my term, I had a referendum to bring it back, it had 72% support. However, an unelected official removed it without seeing whether he had public support for it.

A bill can not simply ensure activity.

There will be more on the county’s plate, in addition to reforming the county gov’t in itself.

Did you just a say an unelected official?

As in, you were not elected to the position you hold.

Whether I was elected to this position or not I would still hold the same power to propose laws and influence the Council to concur. Additionally, if I needed the public’s stance on the matter of removing municipal govt’s I would have talked to them.

Obviously so, legally, you do hold all powers of Executive.

And for a decision this big, you should’ve gone to the public.

Notice how repealing the County Charter was a big decision? I didn’t go to the public on that because it was long overdue and needed. It was the same with removing city govt’s–they serve no purpose and have no benefit to the welfare of the community.

You guys claim that we need the municipal govt’s but have never brought any productive events in which they benefited the way things function.

I don’t see a point to City Governments, all they do is make bills that nobody follows and take up manpower of people who could actually help in fixing the County Government. I think it was a good decision to remove them, so I don’t support this bill.
