The problem with non-selling businesses

I’m quite sure business owners will agree with me on this.

I’m not going to go into too much detail and instead, just get straight to the point.

For businesses that do not sell items (for example, SPG, CGF, SFC, insurance companies, etc), there is no source of income whatsoever (except from Robux from uniforms but that isn’t much.

What does this mean?
It means it’s extremely hard to pay employees. Bear in mind, payment for employees comes directly from business owners. And the money business owners have comes from their income from other jobs or just being ingame in general. This isn’t the case in real life either. Businesses in real life actually have income going into the business from doing work for people, etc etc. This isn’t really the case in Firestone. As a result, it’s easy to struggle paying employees. Yes, some people in Firestone have a lot of FSD and don’t really have this issue, but for a lot of people in Firestone, that isn’t the case, and so this is a big issue - myself included.

We need another way for businesses to have income going in to pay employees. Food businesses and those that sell items are fine really due to the Commerce system where employees directly gain money from selling items. But, for businesses like mine - Stapleton Powergrid - this simply does not happen. I’m not doing this post just for my business either: it’s for all those who struggle in this way.

Thank you.

This is a wonderful point, but how the fuck do we do that lmaooo

This can also be applied to businesses without dev support. Obviously, this will be fixed in v3, but only god knows how long that’ll be

I look forward to seeing smart people’s responses to this problem on this thread

I wish DOCM had some sort of in game funding for payment as long as:

  1. The business is active
  2. The money’s requested is used only to pay for a shift that is legitimate (not AFK employee, employee is representing the business etc)
  3. Business owner doesn’t have enough funds to pay for the shots himself.

This is a big issue, new players join a business which promises 300$/shift and they don’t get any payment for months. Which damages the entire private sector. People aren’t motivated to join businesses if they don’t get paid so many businesses die this way.

This is a problem businesses have in Firestone. So unless DOCM gives permission to these types of companies to charge the state, city, county, or company then there is no viable way for cash flow.

Maybe there could be some sort of in-game tasks that businesses providing a service could do and the employees would receive a payout whenever they did this task (e.g DOT have traffic light outages, maybe power outages could be added for power companies to respond to and fix for FSD). I don’t know how possible it is within the realms of roblox, but it seems like the best way to resolve this issue imo. Unless people could be convinced to like pay employees for giving them an RP service or something, but nobody really likes stuff that is purely just RP.

This seems like something no one can do anything about but the founders.

This right here is a perfect system, but the question is, once more, how we do that

Until we can answer that, this is a no go (sadly)

Ye as docm would need the money from somewhere too

Good idea really but I don’t know if it’s something the founders would like to do (i personally wouldn’t see a problem but it’s not up to me), but also you’d need several different tasks or it may eventually start to get boring doing the same task every shift (i.e. no variation)

So DOCM don’t get an infinite flow of money and is one of the lowest paying jobs. The money would have to come from employees as well which is the same issue as business owners.

This discussion has been had before regarding payment and sadly it is how it is. Be more active ingame, complete mail delivery jobs, join a business with tools to sell, etc to earn that income to pay employees

I didn’t read this post at all cause I’m tired, but sure, agree and support

Simple solution
Pay only the active employees who care about the business and the roleplay, who don’t join the business only to afk in shifts at cd and get paid then resign a month later.

thats not simple lol how can you tell if people have been afk logging or actually doing stuff

well… that can easily be faked

the business owner can always lower pay

in the end, it is what it is and the only way to get the “most” money would be to be in game consistently or afk farming

This was a joke
An actual solution would be making teams which get paid like departments.

The big problem is how do you prevent this from being abused? Great idea though, we just need to find a way to acquire the funds.
