The County Executive Succession Act

Preamble: To prevent unnecessary extra elections.
In the House of Representatives of the State of Firestone,
§1. Definitions
(a) This bill shall be known and cited as, “The County Executive Succession Act”.
(b) The Inferior Governments Act shall be defined here.
§2. Establishing Succession
(a) §8(a) of the Inferior Governments Act currently states, “Stapleton County shall obtain a government, which shall be led by the County Executive. Only one (1) individual may hold the office of County Executive at a time, and it shall be only an elected position.”
(b) §8(a) of the Inferior Governments Act shall be amended to state, “Stapleton County shall obtain a government, which shall be led by the County Executive. Only one (1) individual may hold the office of County Executive at a time, and it shall be an elected position. An election shall be hosted every four (4) months by the Governor to seat a County Executive.”
(c) §8(b) of the Inferior Governments Act currently states, “An election, hosted by the Governor, either through position vacancy (special election) or on the basis of every four (4) months shall be required in order to seat a County Executive.”
(d) §8(b) of the Inferior Governments Act shall be amended to state, “Should the office of County Executive become vacant mid-term, the County Chairperson shall assume the office of County Executive for the remainder of the term. Further matters of succession may be determined by the County Charter.”
§3. Enactment & Enforcement
(a) This Bill shall go into effect as an Act of Congress upon completing the constitutionally required processes.
(b) Should any part of this Act be struck down and/or declared unenforceable, then that part shall be severed with the rest remaining in full force and effect unless all is struck down and/or declared unenforceable.
(c) This Act shall be enforced by the Governor of Firestone, the government of Stapleton County, and any other relevant parties or entities.
