Senate Resolution to Provide for Standing Rules | Resolution #01


Note: This resolution is one of the many resolutions to be proposed from within the Standing Rules of the Senate. This is the first rule out of eighteen to be released - creating and officiating the Standing Rules of the Senate.

A Resolution to Provide for Resolution #1, Rule #1, of the Standing Rules of the Senate.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE STATE OF FIRESTONE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1: In the absence of the Lieutenant Governor, the Senate shall choose a President pro tempore, who shall hold the office and execute the duties thereof during the pleasure of the Senate and until another is elected or his term of office as a Senator expires.

SECTION 1A: In the absence of the Lieutenant Governor, and pending the election of a President pro tempore, the Acting President pro tempore shall perform the duties of the Chair.

SECTION 1B: The President pro tempore shall have the right to name in open Senate or, if absent, in writing, a Senator to perform the duties of the Chair but such substitution shall not extend beyond an adjournment, except by unanimous consent; and the Senator so named shall have the right to name in open session, or, if absent, in writing, a Senator to perform the duties of the Chair, but not to extend beyond an adjournment, except by unanimous consent.

SECTION 1C: If the President pro tempore or President of the Senate is present at a session, any Senator may motion for a presiding officer appointed under Rule I. (3) to be removed from his position and replaced with the President pro tempore or the President of the Senate.

SECTION 2: As provided with context, a “session” shall be defined as any time the Senate convenes on official business.

SECTION 3: This resolution shall be overseen by the Senate as a whole. Violations against this rule, and, the Standing Rules of the Senate, shall be suggested and pointed out by fellow Senators, or, in the case that a violation is not pointed out by a Senator on the floor, the Presiding Officer of the Senate during said session shall knowledgeably correct and point out the Senator that is out of order. With this being stated, the Presiding Officer of any given Senate Session which shall include the President pro tempore and the Lieutenant Governor shall be tasked with enforcing and sustaining this resolution.

SECTION 3A: This resolution shall be compiled within and remain as apart of the Standing Rules of the Senate which shall extend over all future sessions, and as well as when a new Senate is elected and convenes.

SECTION 4: This resolution shall go into effect immediately after passing the Senate.
