Parole Board

HOLD ON BEFORE YOU VOTE:

Based on Poll: Max Sentence Time many people would want a sentence time over 50 hours which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. At that rate people would leave Firestone or make an alt or be encouraged to use an alt to do crimes.

Now with 24 hour + sentences there should be a parole board which would allow people convicted to appeal in order to reduce their sentence. This would allow for DOC to have another division with the courts in which they could host parole hearings in server thus allowing the facility to have more activity. This could obviously be done on discord as well if someone couldn’t join the game or need it expedited.

Thoughts? This is just an idea. I would call for the @FirestoneLegislature to come up with a solution and help work out the bugs.

Thanks for reading. Now you may vote.

When I was doing my 55 and 33 hours back in June I remember the DoC warden allowed for medical RP which was awesome. I was given a transport to SCMC in a ambulance with a DoC convoy and I was able to see everyone which made me so happy. I think activities that takes prisoners with long sentences out of a blocky room will make criminals much happier

Awhile back Tony and I tried to instate a pardons and reprieve board into the Constitution, but Congress failed it. A parole board explicitly would be something I’m willing to work with Congress on.

If you remake it, and get some approval in the Courts, I will almost guarantee I can get it passed. This is such a great idea if you guys, the courts, and the DoJ are in agreement.

I think the power of pardons should be solely vested in the Governor and possibly an advisory board be established instead of the proposed idea. There’s also a massive difference between pardons and parole so…

@DannyboyJurist I believe the Governor should still have the right to issue pardons. The parole board would be set up to lessen sentences in exchange for good behavior or something of the sorts. I don’t know how it would be executed but the Governor should still have the right to issue pardons.
