np thanks.
This was one hell of a story @Automationeer
You should write more
Nope, never has.
Do you see why the section is called sleepy superman now?
Wasn’t aware it was a joke /shrug hence “take that with more than a few grains of salt
”
i mean direct oversight, not indirect oversight like it is by default
given you clearly are incapable of monitoring your department yourself, it is clearly necessary for officials to do so
bit untransparent innit
I do reiterate my call for @Marinify and @CardinalC to hold themselves to account and explain their decision; as their silence is indicative of something shady going on.
To be completely honest, the only way to “fix” DPS is to convince Fed that it’s responsibilities need to be somewhat adjusted, and, well, good luck to whoever tries that
He’s gotta make it through basic first
tbh whilst i was in dps marin was quite absent due to irl commitments so i doubt he’ll respond quickly
i’d never seen him involve himself in much in terms of decision-making or anything “shady” though
he just did him
I do wish to note he didn’t offer anything, just personal opinion.
Anywho, onto the more important part of my reply,
DPS isn’t necessarily looking to punish people (hence why I haven’t created my own cards, reports etc. only stuff that’s submitted or DMd to me.) I agree investigators should NOT be LOOKING for reasons to punish LEOs outside the scope of a report. Any investigator that does such would be delt with.
yes ik just trying to sort ykw out before implementing it so we don’t have any legal issues xoxo
If DPS can’t play tennis, then how does a dog fly an airplane! She can’t! Because cucumbers don’t wear shoes!
gorgeous xo
DSPGATE
I didn’t read too much of this post. However, I feel like I get the idea of this
DPS has always been a problem for a while. It’s a department that gets hate and nothing but hate. Literally, anyone who runs it ends up being criticized for how they’re running it.
Find someone new and the same problems are going to occur
THIS.
every secretary has been criticized lol. people just dont like the concept of the department and just want to find ways to rag on it until someone new is in power that can be nitpicked till they resign/are fired.
Exactly, It’s a position that is guaranteed to bring you hate.
just let each dept have there own internal affairs…? and before someone begins with bias even dps got bias and shit. sure hire multiple people into IA to avoid COI. but noooooooooooooo dps is much smarter idea totally 100% can’t even fucking do audits
Honestly, idk why this wasnt a more common idea. I remember DPW had their own IA prior to being under DPS, and departments not under DPS have similar versions to do investigations in house. In my simple opinion, DPS really shouldn’t be a thing, and it should be up to departments to address complaints in ways that their diverse and experienced team feels is fit
dpw ia was horrific lul
internal affairs been a topic forever and nothing has/will happen
fed.
Honestly, I think many of us are over the long long paragraphs that we see over the drama about someone doing something suspicious.
Let me put my 2 cents in any way, the chrisman appeal is dumb and probably the closest definition to negligent I think DPS has gotten to. I don’t oftentimes disagree with a department like DPS, in my opinion, its job is necessary, are there better ways to do it? Obviously, but we have what we have so gone off what DPS has done, I think it’s a shit show and I don’t think we can exactly point fingers at one specific person. We look at the SCSO audit (the second one if I might add, which makes me laugh because it seems like SCSO always is the one to get audited) and we see the same issue, institutionalized corruption is what DPS is looking for. Whether this corruption exists or not isn’t what I’m writing about anyways, but it brings up a good point. DPS is in a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. If they investigate something they get shit on, if they don’t they’ll get shit on.
Let me provide some generic answers to everyone’s lovely question.
DPS really shouldn’t be a thing, and it should be up to departments to address complaints in ways that their diverse and experienced team feels is fit
This looks absolutely amazing on paper to most people, I mean what is there to go wrong? But the solution isn’t this, and here is the main reason why. Dealing with issues internally doesn’t always provide the correct punishment, hell I’d argue that it doesn’t EVER have the punishment that is necessary. Having third-party investigators allows for people who are supposed to be non-biased to investigate from a viewpoint of outside the agency, this allows for investigations to be done in such a way that you don’t look for the easiest explanation, hell you don’t even look for blame, you look for the cause.
