Municipal PD Jurisdiction

Hey everyone,

I am writing to inform you that I have written a bill proposing jurisdictions for Municipal Police Departments. Give me your thoughts.

TacticalBlue66,
County Council

a. The Prominence District Police shall have primary jurisdiction within the area outlined in black in the following image:

i. The area outlined in red shall act as a secondary jurisdiction, which shall follow the rules and procedures outlined in section 5.
b. The Arborfield Police Department shall have primary jurisdiction within the area outlined in black in the following image:

c. The Redwood Police Department shall have primary jurisdiction within the area outlined in black in the following image:

We then are proposing, of course if Fedora approves, allowing cities to expand their jurisdiction with approval from the County Council.

Municipal PDs could leave for the following reasons;

  1. When there is a call and there are less than two peace officers on duty that have the ability to respond to such a situation.
  2. When they are in pursuit of a suspect who originated inside their city, or while traveling to their city after leaving for a reason described in this section.
  3. When requested by another agency.
  4. When traveling for training purposes.

a. Training purposes is defined as “an organized training event which has been approved by the head of the department hosting.”

Shouldn’t greendale be left alone due to DOC & FNG?

terrible areas.
its a city pd, not a regional pd

if u wanna patrol the towns, go be scso or fsp. just stick to the city limits that fed posted

Right now Municipal PDs are dropping out of their pursuits because of jurisdiction, so I’d say they should be able to leave their areas for a pursuit or a situation that requires them. Other than that the proposal to expand the JD for APD and PDP to GD seems like way too much of a stretch, but for PDP to be able to go to HV, I’d be okay with that.

Join FSP or SCSO.
This isn’t a legislative issue, this is fed being very clear that PDs are not to leave their jurisdiction unless called out for mutual aid. He won’t change his mind about this and I actually agree with what he said

The portion about expanding JD has been removed following a nice convo with a few high-up FSP/SCSO members.

I think the way it is rn is fine, FSP and SCSO should not be robbed of all of its juri

I agree it would be stupid to give PDs a jurisdiction outside of city limits HOWEVER there definitely should be exceptions to the JDs. For example if a city unit would be the only LE unit online, it should be able to respond to for example help requests from FD or so. The same should also be possible if the city unit would be the only medically certified unit on duty and there would be a medical situation. City units should also be able to react to situations immediately outside their jurisdiction (mostly because I don’t think anyone wants to play this game if they get constantly taunted by certain annoying criminals outside their JD). Yeah, some of these are not “realistic” but tell me what is in this game. It’s supposed to be fun for everyone and not just the main department members and crims.

Also there is a common misconception that SCSO or FSP have or have had JDs. They don’t. Unless that is planned, which to my knowledge is not, they will keep having an Area of Focus which itself does not basically mean anything. I don’t think it would hurt either of those departments if they would have extra hands for assistance if needed.

I don’t really think anybody follows SCSO jurisdiction, it’s not that enforced + we are a county department so we just go all around the county, simple. FSP is practically the same just more focused on the highways
