Should City Government be abolished? Mayors, Aldermen, etc.

The County Government and City Government did nothing really the Senate & House couldn’t do. If they were to be abolished the only thing Congress didn’t do was elect Sheriff & Fire Chief, what would you think should happen?

If County Government & City Government were abloished and Sheriff & Fire Chief had to be elected a new way, would you…

  • Do Elections for a elected official
  • Have Governor nominate them and Senate pass them

Still be impeached by House and Senate or maybe a another vote… /shrug. Anyways please tell me and voice your options all votes not showing name and can message me.

I would much rather have the Fire Chief employed by the Department of Public Safety.

like department of public safety appoints one?

Not so much of an appointment, but the Fire Chief is an employee of the Public Safety Department with the consent of the Governor, however they may only be terminated with the permission of the Governor.

Personally, I believe that the Sheriff and Fire Chief should be treated as if I nominated someone for Cabinet. Good checks and balances are present with Senate being the “Verification” before anyone is placed into office. Then again, a election would be a good alternative to that system.

I strongly despise the Governor being able to nominate the Fire Chief and Sheriff, it’s just weird and makes it a power-seeking position. Having the people directly elect the Sheriff on a local level is the way to go. Having the Fire Chief working for the Department of Public Safety is the way to go as well.

Having people tryhard for Sheriff and then end up rigging the elections is going to be the most cringeworthy thing ever. Not to mention, you saw how people reacted with the whole “freeranking” thing, seeing somebody completely not in SCSO become Sheriff will just create chaos.

Never said that there would not be qualifications for office.

In real life theres no such thing as county council. theres only city council then there is senate and state representatives that represent your area. And theres a governor. theres no county council in a state

You are dumb, in your state these are the forms of government.

Townships(Municipal)
County
State
National

County’s serve a role during elections and they also serve a role for being a local voice. A township is where extremely local issues are presented such as to place a stop sign at x intersection. The levels of government serve their own purpose in real life but, we can’t have it all in roblox.

Elections, especially for the Sheriff’s Office, would be a hilarious failure! Do you know how much of a legal pain of an ass it is with LEO departments when their officials are appointed already? There have been like two LEO DHs that got their departments sued in the SC this year. Making it a more political office (as frankly LEO DH positions involve more politics than the fregin’ Governor does) yb using elections where any idiot can be in would be a shit show of epic proportions. If you want to create the least amount of legal and societal hustle, just have the Governor appoint them.

Have you guys never heard of qualifications for office?

The County Government has many purposes that if removed will give the State Government a lot more power. Having elections for Sheriff will also cause a lot of try hards that may be able to talk there way into the position and then just destroy the department. And why would you wanna remove County Government and leave City Governments?

Here would be some of the qualifications for the office of Sheriff:

  • Previously or currently serving in the Stapleton County Sheriff Office; and,
  • Obtained the rank of Sergeant or above; and,
  • Hold a valid POST certification.

If our current political atmosphere says anything it’s that no matter what you require morons are going to get in. Since we’re on the topic of LEOs, I cite POST as an example. Despite them trying their damndest to make qualified, competent LEOs the stream of FA and abuse cases is still flowing.

Understandable, and that’s where the competition and reputation (logos) comes in.
