Hello everyone,
I am reaching out to see the public’s opinion on jury trials within our marvelous court system! It’s no secret that the Firestone Justice System can take weeks even months to fully complete a trial.
While recently serving on a jury trial, I noticed a few things. The case itself took approximately 90 days (3 months) to complete, from the beginning of the trial until the beginning of jury deliberations. Then the trial took an additional 45 days (1.5 months) to complete the jury deliberations.
After some digging, and hearing a few opinions from various court members… a few key points can be made about juries…
- Juries barely meet the required number of people.
- Jurors have been known to cause a mistrial and be incompetent.
- Jurors “volunteer” for duty, yet leave the court’s Discord server mid-selection/trial.
- Most “deliberations” are just a simple vote on the charges without any discussion or deliberation.
While juries are a civic and necessary duty in real life, it seems that they only delay a case unnecessarily and waste time. Not to mention the delayed time in deliberations, you also have the jury selection process which requires the jurors to be selected and probed, delaying the case even further.
What are your thoughts on this? Should we abolish jury trials and spare time in the courts?
Should Firestone Abolish Jury Trials?
