Position: Training Officer, Stapleton County Medical Service (Command)

About Us: The Firestone Department of Health is responsible for the health and wellbeing of all citizens in the State of Firestone. The SCMS is responsible for the provision of emergency healthcare in the pre-hospital setting. We are a growing service, and are set to embark on a new training program for Advanced EMTs in the coming months. Our vision for the service is to be both a starter department for newly qualified individuals as well as having an advanced offer for senior clinicians to practice as part of our rapid response units.

Job Description/Responsibilities: The Training Officer role is essential for the initial field training and continuing education of SCMS EMTs and Paramedics. You will be responsible for directing the training of trainees as well as manging FTOs. Additionally, you will be personally responsible for performing field training in the county and giving quality feedback and corrective action when necessary. Being a good teacher is an absolute requirement for this role.

Department Hiring Requirements:

  • No felonies on record
  • No more than 2 misdemeanors on record
  • No more than 5 traffic infractions on record
  • No arrests/citations for crimes under FCC Chapt. 2
  • No PSB
  • Not blacklisted from DOH
  • Decent employment record (this will be checked)

Additional Job-Specific Requirements:

  • EMT-P Certification, held for a minimum period of 5 months (CCEMT-P is preferred)
  • Minimum 6 months experience in FFA as a training officer or 4 months experience as an FTO/Training Director in SCFD/SCMS (this may be waived on a case-by-case basis - a supervisor’s recommendation would be required)
  • Ability to perform at the max scope with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency (this may be assessed)
  • Written letter of recommendation from your SCFD/SCMS supervisor (optional but desirable)
  • FD/EMS command experience (optional but desirable)

Activity requirements for this role are 30 mins/week on shift OR the equivalent time on administrative/training tasks.
DOH is a secondary department.
