Charter Amendment to Quicken Legislative Process (Revised)
Preamble: To make the legislative process quicker within the District of Prominence.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE DISTRICT OF PROMINENCE COUNCIL HERE ASSEMBLED THAT,
SECTION 1
Article IV, Section 6 of the Prominence District Charter currently states:
“Should the Prominence District Attorney approve the proposal or should they not have reviewed it within seven (7) days of it being proposed to them, the proposal shall be forwarded to the District Council. Should the Prominence District Attorney disapprove the proposal, the proposal shall either be retired, redrafted or void. Should the office of the Prominence District Attorney be completely vacant at the time a proposal starts its process of becoming law, this step shall be voided and the proposal shall be sent to the District Council immediately without any legal review. After being forwarded to the District Council, the proposal must pass the District Council. Should the proposal pass the District Council, it shall be forwarded to the Mayor for review as outlined in Article III, Section 5 of this Charter. Should the proposal not pass the District Council, it shall fail and be retired.”
SECTION 2
Article IV, Section 6 of the Prominence District Charter shall be amended to state:
“Should the Prominence District Attorney or their appointee approve the proposal or should they not have reviewed it within five (5) days of it being proposed to them, the proposal shall be forwarded to the District Council. Should the Prominence District Attorney or their appointee disapprove the proposal, the proposal shall either be retired, redrafted or void. Should the office of the Prominence District Attorney be completely vacant at the time a proposal starts its process of becoming law, this step shall be voided and the proposal shall be sent to the District Council immediately without any legal review. After being forwarded to the District Council, the proposal must pass the District Council. Should the proposal pass the District Council, it shall be forwarded to the Mayor for review as outlined in Article III, Section 5 of this Charter. Should the proposal not pass the District Council, it shall fail and be retired.”
SECTION 3
This Charter Amendment shall go into effect immediately upon passing the legal processes as described by the District Charter.
