A Joint Resolution to amend the Constitution to alter the position of Speaker pro tempore.


Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Firestone in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE

This Joint Resolution may be cited as “An Amendment to Fix the Speaker Pro Tempore”.

SEC. 2. EFFECTIVENESS

This amendment shall be effective upon completion of the constitutionally-required process.

SEC. 3. SEVERABILITY

Should any part of this amendment be struck down or declared unenforceable, then that part of the amendment shall be considered severed from this amendment, and the rest shall remain in full force.

SEC. 4. AMENDMENTS

Article I, section II, clause V of the Constitution shall be amended to read:

“V. A Speaker pro tempore may be freely chosen from the current Representatives at the time of selection by the Speaker of the House, and shall serve a term at the pleasure of the Speaker of the House, but may be removed at any time by the House of Representatives by a simple majority. The Speaker pro tempore shall exercise the duties of the Speaker of the House in the case of their absence.”
