BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ARBORFIELD LEGISLATIVE BRANCH HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:
Section 1A.
Individuals who are selected to serve as a government official of the City of Arborfield within the Executive Branch or Legislative Branch of the City, whether that be through appointment, nomination, election or another manner, shall be required to take an oath of office before they may execute their duties. The City Chairperson’s office shall be exempt from this requirement, as the individual holding this position already took an oath when they became a Councilperson.
Section 2A.
Individuals who are to work within the Legislative Branch of the City shall have the choice between the following two oaths. ‘i’ being Non-Religious and ‘ii’ being Religious.
i. I, [NAME], do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the legislative duties of my office as bestowed upon me by the Charter and legislature of this City, and that I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the City Charter of the City of Arborfield.
ii. I, [NAME], do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the legislative duties of my office as bestowed upon me by the Charter and legislature of this City, and that I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the City Charter of the City of Arborfield, so help me god.
Section 2B.
Individuals who are to work within the Legislative Branch of the City shall recite this oath to the City Chairperson at either a (special) session of the City Council or at another publicly accessible location, such as in the Discord of the City of Arborfield or on a Trello board of the City of Arborfield. Should the office of the City Chairperson not be occupied, they may recite the oath to the Mayor of the City of Arborfield. Should the office of the Mayor not be occupied, they may recite the oath to the Arborfield Deputy Mayor. Should the office of the Deputy Mayor not be occupied, they may recite the oath to the Arborfield City Attorney.
Section 3A.
Individuals who are to work within the Executive Branch of the City shall have the choice between the following two oaths. ‘i’ being Non-Religious and ‘ii’ being Religious.
i. I, [NAME], do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the executive duties of my office as bestowed upon me by the Charter and legislature of this City, and that I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the City Charter of the City of Arborfield.
ii. I, [NAME], do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the executive duties of my office as bestowed upon me by the Charter and legislature of this City, and that I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the City Charter of the City of Arborfield, so help me god.
Section 3B.
Individuals who are to work within the Executive Branch of the City, except the Mayor(-elect), shall recite this oath to the Mayor of the City of Arborfield at either a (special) session of the City Council or at another publicly accessible location, such as in the Discord of the City of Arborfield or on a Trello board of the City of Arborfield.
Section 3C.
The Mayor(-elect) shall recite this oath to the County Executive of Stapleton County at a (special) session of the City of Arborfield, other (special) formal occasion or at another publicly accessible location, such as in the Discord of the City of Arborfield or on a Trello board of the City of Arborfield. Should the office of the County Executive not be occupied or should the County Executive not be available for another reason, the Mayor(-elect) may recite this oath to the City Chairperson or the Arborfield City Attorney.
Section 4.
Members of the current Executive and Legislative branch must take the oath upon passing of this bill.
Section 5.
The Mayor of the City of Arborfield, the Deputy Mayor of the City of Arborfield, the City Chairperson and the Arborfield City Attorney shall be responsible for the enforcement of this bill.
Section 6.
Upon the passage by the City Council and signature of the City Mayor, this document shall be effective and binding immediately.
Section 7.
A Bill to Establish The Oath of the City of Arborfield,Trello, shall be declared null and void.
