As a dedicated citizen of Firestone, I wish to express my thoughts and concerns regarding the ongoing development of V3. While I acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and dedication of the development team, I believe it is in the best interest of the community to reconsider the current trajectory of V3’s release.
At this point, it has been quite some time since V3 was initially expected to launch. The community has grown accustomed to V2, and while there is undoubtedly interest in V3, many citizens remain content with V2’s continued operation. With that in mind, I propose either a temporary halt to the development of V3 or, at the very least, a delay in its release until there is a significant demand from the community for this new version.
Upon review, V3 appears to bear a strong resemblance to other games such as Ridgeway, with the new MDT closely resembling ERLC. This observation is not intended as criticism of the development team’s efforts, but rather as a concern from someone who values the unique identity of Firestone. V2, with its familiar features and mechanics, has created a sense of belonging and nostalgia that many, myself included, are reluctant to leave behind.
I want to make it clear that I hold the utmost respect and admiration for FedoraMasterB98 and the entire development team. The work you have done for Firestone is nothing short of exceptional. However, I believe V2 still has much to offer and could remain viable for a longer period.
From my perspective, V2 remains highly active, particularly toward the end of the week and on weekends. This activity level is reasonable and demonstrates that the community still enjoys and engages with the current version.
Potential Negative Impacts of V3
While V3 is undoubtedly an exciting project, I fear its release could have several unintended consequences, including:
- A significant decline in law enforcement officer (LEO) engagement.
- A potential drop in crime rates, which would lead to reduced activity for LEOs.
- Unfavorable comparisons to similar games like Ridgeway or other look-alike games
- A reduction in overall community activity.
- Potential demands for the return of V2 shortly after V3’s release.
While there are likely positive aspects to V3, my focus here is on the importance of maintaining V2 for the time being.
Reflections on V2
If V2 were to be phased out, I, like many others, would deeply miss the unique charm of the game—the blocky cars, the familiar way we interact with vehicles, and the iconic locations such as Arborfield, Redwood, Prominence, and Greendale. Yes, I know we’re keeping these locations. But it’s the way we navigate these places now. These elements have become part of Firestone’s identity, and while V3’s larger map makes sense for a new iteration, the current V2 map, though smaller, feels sufficient. Of course, V2 could undergo expansions, but it is, after all, V2—and we love it as it is.
I understand that opinions on this matter will vary, and there will undoubtedly be those who disagree with my perspective. However, I believe it is important to voice these concerns before decisions are finalized. V2, in its current form, is thriving and well-loved by many.
I would like to say again, my gratitude to the Firestone development team. Your efforts are appreciated, and I have full confidence that you will continue to create an outstanding experience for the community. Whether or not my words influence the plans for V3, I hope that this statement encourages further dialogue within the community about the future of Firestone.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
