A Constitutional Amendment to Fix Gubernatorial Terms
IN THE STATE OF FIRESTONE SENATE
May 29th, 2024
PREAMBLE
This Amendment shall go into effect to comply with new Fedlaw relating to Gubernatorial terms.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Firestone in Congress here assembled that,

SECTION 1 - TITLE
(a) This Amendment may be cited as “A Constitutional Amendment to Fix Gubernatorial Terms”

SECTION 2 - AMENDMENT
(a) Article II, Section I, Subsection IV of the Firestone Constitution currently states:
“An individual may only serve as the Governor for two terms. In the case of inheritance, an individual who succeeds to and maintains the office of Governor for a period of sixty or more days shall be known as having fulfilled one term. If a Governor is convicted in the impeachment process or resigns during their term, said term is to be considered as fulfilled.”
(b) Article II, Section I, Subsection IV of the Firestone Constitution shall be amended to state:
“An individual may only serve as Governor for two (2) consecutive terms. A Gubernatorial candidate may re-run for Office for an additional two (2) terms after sitting out for one (1) term. In the case of inheritance, an individual who succeeds to and maintains the office of Governor for a period of sixty or more days shall be known as having fulfilled one term. If a Governor is convicted in the impeachment process or resigns during their term, said term is to be considered as fulfilled.”

SECTION 3 - SEVERABILITY AND ENACTMENT
(a) Should any part of this Amendment be struck down and/or declared unenforceable, then that part shall be severed with the rest remaining in full force and effect unless all is struck down and/or declared unenforceable.
(b) This bill shall be entered into effect immediately following the constitutionally required process.
