A Charter Amendment to Establish Provisions for Employee Rights


Preamble

WHEREAS, the Redwood City Council Chairman DOJODOG_2004 plans to propose a bill to introduce employee rights for members of executive offices under the executive branch;

WHEREAS, for the aforementioned bill to be enacted, the charter must be amended to allow this bill to take effect: Now, therefore, be it

Enacted by the City of Redwood City Council that:

SECTION 1. DEFINITION

The Redwood City Charter (“the City Charter”) shall be defined as this.

SECTION 2. CHARTER AMENDMENT

  1. Article III, Section 12 of the City Charter currently states: "The Mayor shall additionally hold the ability to dismiss and/or terminate those individuals who are a part of an executive office or multiple executive offices within the City’s Executive Branch."

  2. Article III, Section 12 of the City Charter shall be amended to state: The Mayor shall additionally hold the ability to dismiss and/or terminate those individuals who are a part of an executive office or multiple executive offices within the City’s Executive Branch. This ability can be limited through legislation."

Section 3

This legislation shall go into effect immediately upon passing the legal processes as described by the City Charter.
