A Bill to Amend "An Act to Regulate Legal Practice"

A Bill to Amend “An Act to Regulate Legal Practice”

Preamble: This will help ensure that BLEE is active and has accountability. Currently members of the BLEE are nominated for life and can only be removed from office through expulsion. Only members of the committee can expel each other which leads to an “elite” group of members to be formed. As lawyers are required to take the bar exam to renew their license, BLEE members shall be required to be renominated to keep their position.

BE IT ENHANCED BY THE STATE OF FIRESTONE CONGRESS THAT:

SECTION 1: Section 3D of “An Act to Regulate Legal Practice” shall be created.

SECTION 1B: The “An Act to Regulate Legal Practice” shall be defined as:

SECTION 2: Section 3D shall state: All appointed members of the BLEE, excluding positions required by law such as the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, shall serve a term of 3 months. Upon the term ending, the member shall be required to redo the process listed in 3B.

SECTION 3: This legislation shall go into effect immediately upon passing both chambers and signed into law by the Governor. All appointed members currently on the BLEE at the passage of this legislation shall serve a term of 1 month; during this time they may be nominated and confirmed by the Senate and start their 3 month term and shall follow the process listed in Section 2 of this legislation.

Respectfully submitted to the congress of the State of Firestone,
