V3 Dispatchers Suggestion/Discussion

Ok, before you all start saying “no, bad idea” at least hear me out.

I know this idea has been proposed before and no one seems to think it will work. But, if executed correctly, I believe having dispatchers in Firestone would greatly increase the realism in the community as well as increase efficiency in law enforcement, fire department, and other public services. For instance, how many times have you seen 911 calls come in with little information or the information be tagged? Also, how many times have you seen a 911 call and wish you had more information behind it? A dispatcher would not only enhance the 911 system but also aid in helping LEO’s manage BOLO’s, direct officers to active calls, and create a more realistic experience. I do know a handful of people who like the idea, but think staffing will be an issue. However, a simple solution, when no dispatchers are online emergency services can go back to how they normally do things. No need to run things through dispatch and whatnot. But, in larger servers, dispatch would highly aid in enhancing realism as well as ensuring a proper and quick response from emergency services.

A simple overview of how I think the system could work:

-If dispatchers are online, when someone calls 911 they would be forwarded to the dispatch center. They would then be in contact with a live player who will ask them customized questions about the incident to ensure the most amount of information is transferred to units. If the dispatcher(s) are busy, they could direct a call to an automated system (same that would be used when no dispatchers are online).

-Dispatchers would help manage officers status, direct them to calls, give them information, and even possibly help with getting information that is not able to be found in-game. Dispatchers would also relay information and whatnot to other agencies if needed. Essentially, operating based off of a real dispatch center. If no dispatchers are online, this is abandoned and officers can just talk to one another and read calls like normal (basically the current V2 system).

-Dispatchers would also help with assigning scenes their own tac channel to ensure nothing overlaps. Another good idea for this would be for dispatchers to have the ability to “open up” (create a channel) for a scene when all other channels are in use. Example, in V2, if TAC1 and 2 are being used, dispatch could open up “TAC3”, an auxiliary tac channel not usually open.

Personally, I just believe dispatchers would help increase realism in V3. Especially with all the new tech that will be coming up. If it is a small server or no dispatchers are online, then the game could automatically revert to a system where dispatchers are not required, similar to a current V2 system. However, I have a feeling Firestone would have no problem hiring dispatchers, especially if the department was secondary. While this cannot be enjoyed 24/7, it definitely would be a very nice addition to large V3 servers, for increased realism. That’s what Firestone strives for, after all, right? Just think how cool it would be, though.

Sorry if this is like hella not-understandable, it is very late and I am tired. I can better answer questions tomorrow for clarification.

we tried dispatch. was bad. 10/10 wouldn’t do it again.

In my personal opinion its a waste of time and effort.

Reasons why it should not be added:

  • Hired Individuals cannot be on 24/7, and they are humans also so.

  • Would be an outstanding idea, but the reality of it is not that rewarding.

  • Not all first responders would agree and want the idea, they mostly would want to stick with manually responding to calls and not being told by a dispatcher.

  • Dispatchers could input incorrect locations/information and confuse first responders, this is because we are all human and we make mistakes.

  • The chance of immature dispatchers/incompetent ones are likely high.

  • More scripting and effort most likely put into this, putting more on the developers.

Reasons why it could be added:

  • Upgrading roleplay overall

  • First responders no longer having to claim the call, dispatcher would assign units.
Example: Dispatcher assigns Engine 11 and Medic 73 for a motor vehicle accident at rogreens.

  • Another job oppurtuntiy opened up, and no certfication is required to enter a phase to be instructed and taught.

  • Obviously enough people would staff it, seeming most citizens/other department members are interested.

Not here to hate on this post but it’s not worth all this time and effort.

its just a suggestion, its up to the devs to decide if they want to make it or not we’re just the idea makers

require post certs?

they can ask for clarification on the radio

It’s a good idea if correctly implemented.

What would happen if there was no dispatcher and sombody called 911?

It won’t be 24/7, you are correct. But when no dispatchers are online, the system can still operate just fine without physical dispatchers. Also, yes they are humans. But they are trained humans. Who is more likely to be accurate, a random civilian 911 caller or a trained dispatcher.

An automated system, similar to the current V2 one.

Oh god… They introduced this into Rockport (when it wasn’t dead) and there were almost no dispatchers on… people were literally stuck in channels and had to drive to the FD to get their assistance

As I have said, the system I proposed could still operate fine when 0 dispatchers are online. Also, keep in mind the system I am proposing is MUCH different than what was used in Rockport or any other game.

Hey man, you are saying the bad words. That is no good. @carandola5

i agree, it would also help the issue of leos not responding to calls, the dispatcher will add them to the call and they don’t gotta choice. if it’s done correctly, it’ll be amazing.

Automated dispatch is much better, we don’t need people doing it unless we can guarantee a physical person sitting and doing dispatch 24/7, across all servers. Otherwise we’re going to remain consistent and organized with automated dispatch.

How would someone do dispatch across all servers?
