The Prominence District Police should be granted access to the Capitol Government Parking Lot to ensure their service vehicles can be securely parked during events, crises, or situations requiring protection from public interference or tampering. As the primary law enforcement agency in the Capitol District, PDP should also be afforded limited access to specific areas within the Capitol Building in emergencies, similar to the clearance held by Firestone State Patrol. This distinction aligns with PDP’s role in protecting the Capitol and their proximity to it, making them a logical choice for such responsibilities. However, access to Capitol barriers should remain restricted and only granted on a rank-and-permission basis, with FSP’s approval. This structured approach reinforces PDP’s capability to safeguard the Capitol while maintaining proper oversight and collaboration with state-level agencies.
This in my opinion makes the capital a bit safer and will reduce long-awaited response times from FSP in a crisis like situation. Police presence will be almost immediate if anything did happen near the great building of Firestone.
((This is not me saying PDP needs access to everything FSP has access too. Just the cap building.))
DC’s MPD provides aid at the request of US Capitol Police, usually doing minor traffic stuff. But outside of emergencies and major events, USCP handles the day to day.
The FSP is glad to work with PDP in terms of Capitol Security, but we are limited by that, in scope, for two reasons:
We want to ensure the public knows that the patrol troopers are the primary police force for facility (Capitol) security. By delegating official police duties to PDP, we risk blurring the line of authority to both agencies regarding the Capitol (both legally and practically), which can cause
unneeded tensions in the field.
I was initially open to incorporating PDP into some FSP operations, but Fedora has also clarified that FSP is to remain the delegated agency for Capitol affairs. So, our policies must work around his.
Feel free to, however, ask to assist an FSP trooper with an incident at the Capitol - it is always good to have extra backup if there is a scarce amount officers online.
