The Prominence Library, which occupies a small, overlooked space is now under government control and is active for the first time in a while and as a result we’d like it to occupy a bigger and more prominent (no pun intended) space.
The library serves an important purpose, being that it’s the only operational library in the state and the only way for citizens to have their own publications approved for public distribution. The library, which sits just a few thousand studs from the seat of our government, represents our fundamental freedom of expression, so why should it be confined to a tiny little storefront in a strip mall?
We’d like to see the library either given its own separate small building (remaining in the same general area) that actually fits the theme of a library, rather than just blending in with the surrounding store fronts. Most people’s first reaction when we mention the Prominence Library is “Prominence has a library?” so we’d like that changed. This could hopefully be implemented into the v2 winter update alongside by fellow City Councillor’s Melony St. revitalization proposal.
