Petition to Congress & Founder to Codify Governorship Sabbaticals

Those who plan to run for Governor or Lt Governor can negotiate with their department to sign a sabbatical contract which outlines what they get back once their term is over. However, the base requirement by law is just that they can rejoin as an entry level rank without applying / needing to do any training. If the department head is the person running for Governor / Lt. Gov, then there would be no negotiation & they can only be guaranteed an entry level position. This contract would be published prior to the person running for office and could not be changed once the person enters office.

For non-government jobs like discord mod, game mod, forums mod, developer, etc. you’re just guaranteed that base position again. @FedoraMasterB98 @pathwaysbball  ^

This ensures that a former Governor / Lt. Gov has an easier time reintegrating into society after their term and they don’t lose everything they’ve worked towards. It also sets an expectation for what they’ll get once their Governorship is over so they aren’t pressured to keep overly friendly relations with a department so they can keep their invite after Governor term.

Formal Petition

We, the undersigned, call for the establishment of a clear and fair policy for individuals planning to run for Governor or Lt. Governor. This policy would ensure a smooth transition back into their previous roles after serving in public office while maintaining transparency and fairness.

Proposed Policy:

  1. Sabbatical Contracts for Public Sector Workers:
  • Any individual planning to run for Governor or Lt. Gov may negotiate with their department to sign a sabbatical contract outlining the terms of their return after their Governor term ends.
  • By law, the minimum guarantee is that the individual may return to an entry-level position within the same department, without needing to reapply or undergo additional training.
  • If the department head is the one running for Governor or Lt. Gov, no negotiation is allowed. They will only be guaranteed a return to an entry-level position.
  1. Transparency and Accountability:
  • The sabbatical contract must be published publicly before the individual officially begins their campaign for Governor / Lt. Gov.
  • Once published, the contract terms are final and cannot be altered once the individual assumes office.
  1. Non-Government Roles:
  • For individuals stepping away from non-government positions, such as moderators (e.g., Discord, game, forums) or developers, the same base principle applies: a guaranteed return to their previous role or equivalent, ensuring their contributions are respected.

Why This Policy is Needed:

  • Ensures Reintegration into Society: Serving as Governor or Lt. Governor is a significant commitment, and individuals should have a clear path back into their previous careers without losing everything they’ve worked for.
  • Prevents Conflicts of Interest: By setting expectations upfront, Governors will not feel pressured to maintain overly friendly relations with specific departments or organizations to secure favorable post-term arrangements.
  • Promotes Transparency: Publicly publishing contracts before campaigns ensures accountability and trust in the process.
  • Encourages Civic Participation: This policy removes barriers for qualified individuals who may hesitate to run for Governor due to fears of losing their current roles or career stability.

We urge lawmakers & the Founder to adopt this proposal, which balances fairness, transparency, and the need for Governors to focus on serving the public without undue external pressures.
