With the Firestone Research and Development introducing motorcycles and bicycles within the near future, it is imperative that the State Legislature establish usage regulations prior to the release to prevent chaos. This legislation will establish laws that will apply to all motorcycles and bicycles upon the release of the system.
This legislation shall be titled as “Motorcycles and Bicycles Law,” or in short, “The Bike Law.”
A “motorcycle” shall be defined as a two-wheeled vehicle that is powered by a motor and has no pedals. A “bicycle” shall be defined as a vehicle composed of two wheels held in a frame one behind the other, propelled by pedals and steered with handlebars attached to the front wheel. “Lane splitting” shall be defined as riding a bicycle or motorcycle between lanes or rows of slow moving or stopped traffic moving in the same direction.
A. One car lane shall be equivalent to two motorcycle lanes. The motorcycle shall occupy either the left, or the right side of the lane, but shall not be in the middle for long periods of time. Lane splitting shall be allowed.
B. When stopped, no two motorcycles shall be directly parallel to each other. The trailing motorcycle on the adjacent lane should stop before the front tires pass the body of stopped motorcycle, if stopping. The same conditions apply for all other adjacent stopping vehicles.
C. All laws applied to standard vehicles shall be applied to motorcycles, with the exception of the listed regulations within The Bike Law.
D. If the motorcycle is not equipped with proper signalling function, the operator must use hand signals prior to making the turn, if technologically equipped.
A. A motorcycle shall be parked with at least one wheel or fender touching the right-hand curb.
B. On a one-way roadway, a motorcycle, if parked on the left-hand side, shall have either one wheel or fender touching the curb.
C. No person shall stop, park, or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a peace officer in any of the following places: On any portion of a sidewalk, or with the body of the vehicle extending over any portion of a sidewalk.
E. One car parking spot shall be equivalent to two motorcycle parking spots. The parked motorcycle shall park either to the right side or the left side, allowing another motorcycle to park parallel to it. If the operator seeks to keep the entire slot to themselves, they must park the motorcycle diagonally, with the front and rear covering the adjacent sides of the spot.
A. A bicycle lane shall be defined as the lane to the complete right of the road. If there is no designated lane for bicycles, then bicycles shall share the same right lane as the vehicles.
B. A bicycle shall be permitted to enter the complete left lane only when the bicycle is making a left-turn.
C. If the bicycle is not equipped with proper signalling function, the operator must use hand signals prior to making the turn, if technologically equipped.
A. A bicycle shall only be parked at designated bicycle parking locations. If there are no designated bicycle parking locations, then they are permitted to use parking spots designated to vehicles. Regulations applied to motorcycles shall be applied to bicycles, as listed in Section 4.
B. A bicycle is not permitted to park within any handicapped spaces.
All laws in conflict with this legislation are declared null and void.
Upon passage of the Office of the Governor and the Congress, and the introduction of motorcycles or bicycles, this legislation shall go into effect immediately.
