Self-explanatory. All other municipal police have the AR-15, except for APD. The M870 is very unreliable (sometimes doesn’t register hits/bugs out with ammo) and it would be nice to have a reliable longer-range option. I get it if you want to RP us being a low budget department, but I think we can afford an AR-15. I would also accept fixing the M870 and making it more reliable if this is a no go.

Imo, there’s not much of indication that Arborfield is supposed to be a poor department, especially with everyone driving brand new dodge rams.
Every agency has the same cars, there’s no brand new 2020 Explorers, no better cars or equipment than what SCSO or FSP has.
Only having a shotgun that is passable at best with close range incidents, and unreliable with hit reg in medium to long range combat, and a Glock that does very little damage with long range targets puts us at a disadvantage. The average criminal today has a lot more money to splurge on the most expensive rifles and weapons that APD doesn’t have access to.
Many years ago, criminals did not have as much money as they do today, it was rare for a criminal to have an AK and do random ambushes, therefore there wasn’t a need for every department to have AR-15’s. Now it’s basically a requirement to defend yourself properly against an attack, especially an ambush.
APD is the only other agency that doesn’t have a rifle, other than being Park Police which should have already.
