Thats not the purpose I was wanting to use restraining orders for…

I could see restraining orders being issued via court order, in addition to _ time in jail, if convicted of a crime like assault…

Just as an example

sarcasm aside, while the restraining order sounds good on paper (as all good ideas are), there won’t really be any way to execute it; LEOs are way too busy to allocate resources and they don’t often check trello boards for information, so either they aren’t informed about the order despite it existing, or they just can’t allocate units to resolve a situation

I agree with the restraining order bill. This would be a good way to counteract people who are constantly bothering you.

Well its not really for the police to enforce…

Sure, they could enforce it, but, it would mainly be enforced by the courts realistically.

Example:
Joe is convicted of sexual assault and rape of Jane. The court issues a restraining order on Joe, to not be within 300 studs of Jane or 500 studs of a school for 20 days, and is sentenced to 1 hour in prison. (Note: Rape and sexual assault arent charges in firestone) He serves his 1 hour, but, he goes near the pre-school… The cops are kind of lazy, and dont care to notice this. However, someone saw this and told a judge about it. Joe is then found guilty of indirect contempt of court, and violating a restraining order. He gets a longer sentence, most likely 2 or 3 hours and MAYBE a warrant.

Thats how I could see restraining orders being used in a court since…

Not to get rid of annoying people, but for an actual legally justified reason.

Restraining orders have clear problems. Here’s why.

  • You have no idea what the distances are in game, you don’t have an IOS 12 IPhone XS that has AR capabilities to record distances between you and another person.
  • There is no current efficient way to prove violations of restraining orders.
  • There is no current efficient way or idea to establish an efficient way to communicate restraining orders to LEOs.
