A Bill to Establish and Classify Petty Offenses

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1: Hereby created are three classes of petty offenses within the City of Redwood.

SECTION 1A: The first class of petty offense shall be known as a Class C Petty Offense. A Class C Petty Offense shall be regarded as an infraction (fine) and shall be punished by no more than one hundred-twenty ($120) dollars.

SECTION 1B: The second class of petty offense shall be known as a Class B Petty Offense. A Class B Petty Offense shall be regarded as an infraction (fine) and shall be punished by not less than one hundred-twenty ($120) dollars, but no more than four hundred ($400) dollars.

SECTION 1C: The third class of petty offense shall be known as a Class A Petty Offense. A Class A Petty Offense shall be regarded as the most severe of offenses, and shall be regarded as a jailable offense for no more than four hundred (400) seconds or a fine of not less than three hundred-fifty ($350) dollars, but no more than five hundred ($500) dollars.

SECTION 2: The Stapleton County Sheriff’s Office, Firestone State Patrol, Firestone Department of Homeland Security, Firestone Department of Corrections, or any other law enforcement agency recognized by the State of Firestone shall be permitted to enforce this legislation.

SECTION 3: Upon passage of this legislation, any future bills that involve any of the above listed petty offenses shall specify what offense and what punitive action is to be taken accordingly.

SECTION 4: Upon passage, this bill shall go into effect immediately.

SECTION 5: All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void. Any legislation passed prior to this bill shall remain unaffected by this legislation.
